سمیه مهدوی‌پیام – انتقام، اشکال مختلفی دارد. حوثی‌های یمن، عزم خود را برای انتقام از غرب به خاطر حملات هوایی به رهبری آمریکا که پایگاه‌های پرتاب موشک و پهپاد آنها را هدف قرار داده، پنهان نکرده‌اند. این اقدام ایالات متحده در پاسخ به بیش از 30 حمله حوثی‌ها به کشتی‌های بین‌المللی در دریای سرخ و خلیج عدن بوده که به گفته آنها، در حمایت از فلسطینیانِ غزه است.
فرانک گاردنر، خبرنگار حوزه امنیت در مقاله‌ای در سایت بی‌بی‌سی نوشت: اکنون خطرات گسترش یافته‌اند. دولت یمن که از سوی سازمان ملل در عدن به رسمیت شناخته شده، هشدار داده حوثی‌ها (گروهی که بخش زیادی از یمن را در سال 2014 در اختیار دارند)، اکنون دیگران را به خرابکاری در کابل‌های ارتباطی مهم زیر دریا، از جمله خطوط اینترنت که از زیر دریای سرخ می‌گذرد و آسیا را به اروپا متصل می‌کند، تهدید می‌کنند.
این هشدار پس از آن منتشر شد که چندی پیش یک کانال مرتبط با حوثی‌ها در پیام‌رسان تلگرام، نقشه‌ای را منتشر کرد که مسیرهای کابلی زیردریایی در دریای سرخ را نشان می‌داد. اکنون سوال این است: آیا حوثی‌ها واقعا می‌توانند این خطوط را خراب کنند؟ پاسخ کوتاه این است: اگر می‌توانستند تقریبا با اطمینان می‌توان گفت تا کنون این کار را کرده بودند.
طبق گزارش‌ها، این گروه ادعا کرده به راحتی به نقشه‌هایی دسترسی داشته که تلاقی کابل‌های ارتباطی زیردریایی را نشان می‌دهد؛ کابل‌هایی که از خط ساحلی آنها عبور می‌کنند، زیرا از تنگه باب‌المندب می‌گذرند که در باریک‌ترین حالت آن، تنها 20 مایل (32 کیلومتر) عرض دارد. با این حال، کابل‌های فیبر که 17 درصد از ترافیک اینترنت جهان را حمل می‌کنند، در بستر دریا عمدتا صدها متر زیر سطح، بسیار دور از دسترس غواصان قرار دارند.

تام شارپ، رئیس سابق نیروی دریایی انگلیس می‌گوید: «هیچ‌چیز در سیستم نبرد ایران ندیده‌ام که این کابل‌ها و مطمئنا زیردریایی‌های آنها را لمس کند.»
او می‌افزاید: «غواصی، یک گزینه است اما عمیق و پیچیده است، بنابراین فکر می‌کنیم آن را تحت فشار قرار می‌دهیم.» شارپ ضمن موافقت با گوور می‌گوید: «من فکر می‌کنم این حرف‌ها، یک بلوف است.»
ضمنا اینکه ایران، اگر متحد خود را قادر به خرابکاری در حوزه کابل‌های اینترنت زیردریایی جهان کند، این اقدامی پرخطر از سوی تهران است.
ایران و آمریکا، هیچ‌کدام نمی‌خواهند وارد جنگ تمام‌عیار با یکدیگر شوند و این موضوع را به صراحت اعلام کرده‌اند.
درگیری کنونی بین ایالات متحده و نمایندگان و متحدان ایران در سراسر خاورمیانه تا حدی تنظیم شده است.
ایالات متحده چند روز قبل از حمله به پایگاه‌های شبه‌نظامیان تحت حمایت ایران در عراق و سوریه، هشدار و به پرسنل کلیدی اجازه تخلیه داد.
در ادامه گزارش بی‌بی‌سی آمده: قطع کابل‌های ارتباطی جهانی، یک تشدید تنش بزرگ است که حتی می‌تواند به انجام حملات تلافی‌جویانه به سمت ایران منجر شود.
ادموند فیتون براون که از سال 2015 تا 2017 سفیر انگلیس در یمن بود، می‌گوید: «ایران از گسترش کارزار اختلالات جهانی به حوزه حمل‌ونقل نگران است.»
او مدعی شد: «ایرانی‌ها ممکن است پیش از خرابکاری در زیرساخت‌ها به گزینه‌های سایبری متوسل شوند.»
بنابراین عملی شدن تهدید اخیر حوثی‌ها طبق آنچه در کانال تلگرامی‌شان اشاره شده، دشوار است.
ضمنا از آنجا که غرب، دست ایران را در تمام حملات حوثی‌ها در دریای سرخ دخیل می‌بیند، عملی کردن این تهدید، هم از نظر فنی، چالش‌برانگیز و هم از نظر سیاسی، خطرناک خواهد بود.
البته حوثی‌ها قبلا دشمنان خود را غافلگیر کرده‌اند. به طور مثال، درست قبل از مسابقه جایزه بزرگ فرمول یک در سال 2022، موشک‌هایی به سمت انبار نفت عربستان در جده شلیک کردند.
آنها همچنین نزدیک به 8 سال از حملات هوایی فشرده ائتلاف، تحت رهبری عربستان سعودی، که نتوانست کنترل غیرقانونی خود را تغییر دهد، جان سالم به در برده‌اند.
