رییس سازمان تنظیم مقررات و ارتباطات رادیویی گفت: ما پیگیر این موضوع هستیم که اینترنت ماهواره ای در ایران از طریق ۲ یا چند اپراتور و در فضای کاملا رقابتی به کاربران ارائه شود.
امیر محمدزاده لاجوردی رئیس سازمان تنظیم مقررات و ارتباطات رادیویی در خصوص آخرین وضعیت اینترنت ماهواره‌ای در کشور گفت: در موضوع اینترنت ماهواره‌ای در کشور در حال حاضر امسال اولین اپراتور، حقوق سرزمین جمهوری اسلامی‌ایران را امضا کرد و پذیرفت و در حال حاضر در مرحله بررسی و دریافت مدارک برای ارائه پروانه به آن هستیم.
وی با اشاره به اینکه زمان استفاده کاربران ایرانی از اینترنت ماهواره‌ای مشخص نیست افزود: زمان بندی دادن برای این موضوع خیلی سخت است چون خیلی وابسته به اپراتوری است که در حال حاضر در حال گرفتن پروانه است بنابراین زمان خاصی نمی‌توان ارائه داد ولی ما پیگیر این موضوع هستیم که حداقل دو اپراتور بتوانند شرایط ما را بپذیرند و بتوانند به کاربران سرویس بدهند.
لاجوردی در ادامه در خصوص استقبال از اپراتورهای دیگر برای ارائه اینترنت ماهواره‌ای در کشور گفت: ما همیشه مخالف انحصار هستیم و در حال حاضر یک اپراتور شرایط ما را پذیرفته است ولی اپراتور دوم هنوز نپذیرفته است. فضا باز است که اپراتورهای دیگر بیایند و فضا رقابتی شود.
وی با اشاره به هدف از ارائه این سرویس در کشور افزود: خدمات ماهواره‌ای در جمهوری اسلامی‌با هدف تقویت و توسعه زیرساخت ارتباطی کشور بالاخص در مناطق صعب العبور و ارائه سرویس مقرون به صرفه و با کیفیت در مناطق روستایی و دور افتاده، به عنوان یکی از کاربردهای اصلی اینترنت ماهواره‌ای انجام می‌شود که با اعطای این مجوز این امکان فراهم خواهد شد.
لاجوردی افزود: همچنین ارائه خدمات ارتباطی در شرایط بحران نیز از جمله کاربردهای ارائه شده توسط اپراتور اینترنت ماهواره‌ای است.
